国際協力機構（ＪＩＣＡ）主催のグローバル教育コンクール２０１６において、鳥取西高校の取り組みを記録した「私たちに出来る国際貢献とは」が、写真部門で入選しました。このコンクールは、世界が抱える課題や国際協力、開発途上国の現状を伝える写真をメッセージとともに募集するもので、全国２００を超える応募の中から４位相当の賞になりました。

この取り組みは、智頭町のコントリビューションの会が、鳥取大学や智頭町と連携して、アフリカケニアにある児童養護施設マトマイニチルドレンズホームにお米を作って送り、子供たちの母親が作ったフェルトアニマルなどを日本で販売するというプログラムで、鳥取西高校は昨年度から参加しているものです。

どこか遠くの国の誰かではなく、

顔を思い浮かべられる「あの子」を思うこと、

「自分たちに何ができるか」

「逆に自分たちは何を得るか」

を懸命に考えて、手を足を動かして、

その活動自体を楽しみながら続けていくこと、

それが私たちの国際貢献です

Our photographic montage, "What is the international contribution we can do" has received an award at the Global Education Competition 2016 sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the photography section. This competition recruited pictures with a message that publicize with the world's problems, international cooperation and the current situation of developing countries. Our work was awarded fourth place among more than 200 nationwide applicants.

This program was organized by the Contribution Association (Chizu town) in collaboration with Tottori University and Chizu town, to produce and to send rice to the Matumaini Children's Home (Child care facility) in Kenya, Africa, and to sell handmade felt animals in Japan made by mothers of the children. Tottori Nishinari High School participates this program from last year.

"What is the international contribution we can do?"

It is not someone in a distant country somewhere.

It is “that girl or that boy” we can think of a face.

"What we can do for them?"

"What do we get from them conversely?"

Keep considering those questions and then be more active,

continue the activities with pleasure.

That is our way of international contribution.
