本校は岩美町に根ざし、長年にわたって地域とともに歩んできた公立高等学校です。
創立以来、生徒一人ひとりの個性と可能性を大切にしながら、人間性を育む教育を行ってきました。これまで多くの卒業生が社会の様々な分野で活躍しており、その姿は在校生にとっての大きな励みとなっています。
本校が大切にしているのは、「郷土を愛し、地域に貢献する人財」、「自らを信じ、他者を敬い、礼節を重んじる人間」を育成していくことです。
日々の授業はもちろん、行事や部活動、地域との交流を通じて、生徒たちは他者と協働しながら、自分自身の可能性を広げています。これからの社会を生きる若者にとって必要なのは「変化を前向きに受けとめ、自ら学び続ける姿勢」です。本校での学びと出会いが生徒たちにとってかけがえのない原動力となることを願っています。
高校生活は、人生の土台を築くかけがえのない3年間です。私たちは生徒一人ひとりが「自分らしさ」を大切にしながら、大きく成長していけるよう、全力でサポートして参ります。 未来を切り拓く皆さんと、本校で出会える日を心より楽しみにしています。

Location
Iwami High School is located a 30 minute drive from both downtown Tottori and the Tottori Airport. It is also on the edge of a large national park called "San in Gaigan" which boasts miles of sand Dunes and yellow sand beaches and hectares of native forest.
We have the best of both worlds with easy access to the city on public transport as well as beautiful beaches "Uradome Gaigan" in our own backyard.
In addition, there is a world class scuba diving resort and hot spring right next to the school which provides opportunities for both experienced divers and those students who want to try something new.
Learning
We pride ourselves on our modern and beautiful learning environment. Teaching is relevant, visible and inquiry based. Students are taught to solve real life problems and work collaboratively. They enjoy the range of subjects on offer.
Re-start support(for slow learners) is available to those students who need it.
We encourage students to make the most of the opportunities on offer by learning something new, joining club or other school events.
New Experience
Supporting students to be well-rounded member of a country starts with broadening their horizons through opportunities outside the classroom. We offer a wide range sporting co-curricular opportunities which include the main codes; baseball. volleyball, softball, tennis, and badminton, as well as more niche sports such as weight lifting and jazz.
